What To Wear Guide
Hi Hi!
We all know picking out an outfit for your session can be a little overwhelming, so I put this guide together to help in case you’re feeling like it’s all a little daunting. This is by no means the rules, the most important thing of all is that you feel 100% you and 100% comfortable. I can’t express enough how your photos will feel true and genuine if you show up fully as yourself, so finding the right outfit that you feel confident and comfortable in is everything. These are just some helpful tips to point you in the right direction if you’re staring at a few different outfits, or haven’t been able to pick out even one!
Colors
One of the things that we’ve found over the years is that if one of you is in a really bold and bright color it can be a little distracting from everyone else in the image. Our rule of thumb is to pick whichever color that feels good for you but a more toned down and neutral version of it. If you love green, olive green is great. Love yellow? A more muted mustard yellow would be perfect.
Accessories
Accessories are always a great idea. If it’s a hat or a fun jacket, your favorite boots, etc. They can add to the feel of your photos and it’s nice for you to have something to play with, and bring more movement, etc.
Patterns
We love patterns!! Something to think about with patterns is keeping them on the smaller side if possible. Coming back to distractions in images, bigger patterns can feel distracting but smaller patterns can add depth and interest. As far as mixing patterns, blending different patterns with slightly different sizes and colors tends to look beautiful matched together.
Matchy Match
One of the biggest pieces of advice I can give is to make sure you’re not in the same color, specifically shirts. It’s easy to go with a white top for everyone but It tends to make you look too blended, and different colors give the photos more depth.
Comfort is everything
And most importantly, feeling comfortable and true to you is everything. We like to keep things fluid and movement based, and we want you to feel like you can move around freely. If we’re on the beach, an oversized sweater and shorts/jeans or a comfortable dress totally fit the vibe and leave room for you to move. If we’re in the city and you’re feeling heels, try to go for heels that are easy on your feet and allow movement and freedom. Fun sneakers in the city are totally a vibe too!
That’s a wrap!
We hope this was helpful as you’re deciding between a few different outfits and trying to pick one (or two!) Again this is not the rules, if you feel the most like yourself in fun and bright colors and bold prints, please do not hold back. And remember, confidence is everything in your photos, if you feel great and you feel comfortable it’s the perfect combo. Let us know if you have any questions or want to send over outfit options for help, we’re here! We’re so looking forward to working with you and making some magic.
